Experts call for psychological well-being at international conference in Utkal University

Bhubaneswar: A two-day International Conference on Positive Psychology and Mental Health was organised by the Department of Psychology, Utkal University from 19th to 20th December. It was supported by RUSA 2.0, Utkal University.

The inaugural session held at MKCG Auditorium of the university was graced by Chairperson of PG Council Prof. Mitali Chinara as the Guest of Honour, while Prof. Hiroyuki Sato from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan addressed the conference as keynote speaker.

Prof Ajit Mohanty from Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Prof. Udaya Nath Dash, Department of Psychology, Utkal University and University of Delhi, Prof Sukanya Ray, Suffolk University, Boston are among the invited speakers of the conference.

The co-conveners of the conference Mousumi Sethy, Lucy Sonali Hembram and Sunanda Pattnaik coordinated the event.

Convenor of the conference Prof. Bhaswati Patnaik opined that the conference is a means to achieve a larger goal of collective psychological well-being through the new paradigm of positive psychology. A special session on the scholastic contributions of Late Prof J.P. Das, the legendary alumnus of the Department and a world renowned Psychologist, was organized during the conference.

A total of 80 research papers were presented in seven sessions during the conference, and it was attended by 180 participants.
