Bhubaneswar: Residents of Capital City consumed liquor worth Rs 32 crore in the last seven days of 2025, according to official data released by the Excise Department.
The record sales came during the festive week from Christmas to Zero Night, reflecting the city’s growing nightlife culture and holiday enthusiasm.
Furthermore, the report confirmed that residents drank 2.5 lakh litres of foreign liquor and 1.5 lakh litres of country liquor. Moreover, beer sales surged, with 1.78 lakh litres consumed during the same period.
Officials explained that clubs, pubs, and off-shops across the capital witnessed heavy demand as people celebrated Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Zero Night. The Excise Department noted that the figures highlight both festive spirit and the rising trend of urban alcohol consumption.
Additionally, authorities emphasized that they monitored sales closely to ensure compliance with excise regulations. They reiterated their commitment to curb illegal liquor sales while facilitating safe and regulated consumption during festive seasons.
