Odisha-Andhra road blocked for over 6 hours as coal-laden truck overturns

Rayagada: Vehicular movement on the Odisha-Andhra route was severely disrupted for more than six hours after a coal-laden truck overturned near Partapur village in Rayagada district late Sunday night.

According to reports, the truck was carrying coal from Visakhapatnam to Raipur when it met with the accident. The driver sustained serious injuries in the mishap and was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Rayagada for treatment.

The overturned truck and the coal scattered across the road brought traffic to a standstill. Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road, causing inconvenience to those travelling along the route. Police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot on Monday morning and began clearing the road.

Officials said normal traffic movement was resumed after the overturned truck and the coal lying on the road were completely removed.
