Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi, holding separate discussions on strengthening internal security, improving railway infrastructure and accelerating the State’s overall development.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said his meeting with Amit Shah focused on strengthening internal security and maintaining law and order in Odisha. The two leaders also discussed measures to boost the cooperative sector and drive the state’s overall development.
Majhi reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to building a prosperous and empowered Odisha with the continued support of the Union Government. During the courtesy meeting, the Chief Minister said Odisha is moving rapidly on the path of development, progress and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the continued guidance of Shah.
Majhi briefed Shah on the state’s ongoing development and welfare programmes, the prevailing law and order situation, internal security measures and key initiatives being implemented by the state government. He also sought the Union Home Minister’s continued support to further strengthen Odisha’s development process.
The Chief Minister thanked Shah for his leadership in helping Odisha achieve recognition as a “Naxal-free state.” He said the success in eliminating Left Wing Extremism has created a favourable environment for the state’s socio-economic development.
Majhi informed the Union Home Minister that the Odisha government is implementing the Gramodaya Yojana to ensure that all Central and state welfare schemes reach areas that were previously affected by Naxal activities. He also stated that proactive policing has helped keep the state’s law and order situation under control.
Highlighting Odisha’s rapid industrialisation over the past two years, the Chief Minister sought the Centre’s support in strengthening industrial security to accelerate the state’s industrial growth. Majhi also thanked the Centre for extending support to Odisha and acknowledged its direct assistance in the revival of sugar mills in the state.
The Chief Minister also said the “double-engine government” in Odisha has earned public trust through direct public outreach and prompt grievance redressal. He outlined several major development and welfare initiatives being implemented by the state government.
The Chief Minister also met Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw. The meeting centred on strengthening railway infrastructure in Odisha, expediting new railway projects and improving connectivity across the state.
He said enhancing regional and industrial connectivity remains a priority for the state government, as it is expected to support economic growth and improve transportation networks.
