Odisha Finance Dept orders salary freeze for defiant officers

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Finance Department has issued a strict directive warning government officers who fail to comply with transfer orders.

In a fresh order issued on July 16, the department announced that officers who do not join their new postings by July 20 will face a salary freeze from July 21 until they report to the transferred post.

This comes after a mass transfer order issued on April 16, affecting 90 officers of the Odisha Finance Service (OFS). Despite repeated instructions, several officers have reportedly resisted vacating their previous positions. The department has now warned of disciplinary proceedings against those continuing to defy government orders.

The notification stated: “In case an Officer is already relieved but fails to join in the new places of posting by 20.07.2026, he or she may not be allowed to draw his/her salary for the period from 21.07.2026 till he/she joins at the transferred place of posting.”

The move underscores the government’s intent to enforce administrative discipline and ensure smooth implementation of transfer policies. The order has been circulated to all departments concerned, including the Office of the Accountant General and district authorities.
