Odisha IPS Officer Jagmohan Meena submits resignation

Bhubaneswar: Odisha cadre IPS officer and Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena has tendered his resignation from service citing personal reasons. The development came to light on Monday.

DGP Y B Khurania confirmed that Jagmohan Meena has submitted his resignation and it is being examined by the government.

A 2013-batch IPS officer, Meena submitted his resignation while serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Bhubaneswar. He took charge as the Bhubaneswar DCP on February 28, 2025. Before his posting in the State Capital, Meena served as the DCP of Cuttack and as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Anugola, Malkangiri and Ganjam districts.

According to information available with the media, if the government accepts Meena’s resignation, the 37-year-old IPS officer is likely to move to the private sector.

The IPS officer revealed that he put in his resignation nearly a month ago, though administrative processing remains pending. Declining to elaborate further on any factors beyond personal grounds, Meena hinted at his intention of moving into the private sector.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, Meena maintained a notable academic and professional track record throughout his tenure in public service. After taking charge as the DCP of Bhubaneswar, he gained a reputation for fast-tracking complex case closures and driving immediate, time-bound investigations.

Over his career, he earned multiple prestigious commendations, including the Police Medal for Gallantry in 2019, the Police Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak in 2021, and the Governor’s Medal in 2023.
