Bhubaneswar: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has not only nurtured student leaders but has also shaped responsible citizens and nationalist leadership for the country. From resisting the Emergency to actively participating in movements concerning national security and social transformation, ABVP has consistently remained at the forefront of nation-building efforts, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at SOA University here on Thursday.
Addressing the Civic Reception Ceremony on the eve of AVBP’s national executive council meeting, the Chief Minister said, “By imbibing the guiding mantra of ‘Knowledge, Character, and Unity’, ABVP has consistently worked towards providing new direction to students’ welfare, national interest, and social consciousness. Today’s youth must aspire not merely to become job seekers, but job creators.”
The entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership of youth will play a vital role in the making of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The ‘Screen Time to Activity Time’ campaign being run by ABVP is inspiring youth towards service, environmental awareness, sports, and constructive activities, while the ‘Mission Sahasi’ campaign is playing an important role in developing confidence and the spirit of self-defence among girl students, he highlighted.
Speaking on the occasion, ABVP national general secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki said, “In the present times of global instability and changing national circumstances, Bharat will have to play the role of balanced leadership, and the youth and students of the nation must come forward with a spirit of nationalism. ABVP has consistently struggled in national interest on issues such as illegal Bangladeshi infiltration, changing demography, and threats to democratic values, the result of which has been the mandate in favour of restoring democratic values in West Bengal.” The three-day national executive council meeting will provide new energy and fresh direction to the organisation, he added.
A grand exhibition titled as ‘Maharaja Kharavela’ was also organised on the auditorium premises, showcasing the glorious history of Odisha, its folk traditions, and the year-round activities undertaken by ABVP. The exhibition was prepared by 30 students in 120 hours of dedicated effort. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister felicitated all the student karyakartas and their guiding mentors who contributed for the exhibition. The exhibition was inaugurated earlier in the morning by Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in the presence of Vice-Chancellor of Rama Devi Women’s University Prof. Jyotsna K.B. Rout.
Among others, ABVP national president Prof. Raghuraj Kishore Tiwari, Odisha State president Dr. Devesh Shankar Hota, Odisha State secretary Diptimayee Pratihari, reception committee president Prabodh Mohanty, reception committee general secretary Ajay Agrawal, ABVP national organising secretary Ashish Chauhan, national joint organising secretaries S.
