Berhampur: A woman was critically injured after being allegedly attacked by her husband with an axe at a village in Gangapur area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
As per information, the incident took place at Khairaputi village under the jurisdiction of Gangapur police station in the district on late on Saturday night. The injured woman has been identified as Rashmita Bisoyi, aged around 36 years.
Sources said the incident occurred following a dispute over money. Locals said her husband, Sanjay Bisoyi, had allegedly demanded money from her but she refused. Angry over her objection, the accused attacked the woman with an axe, leaving her severely injured.
The woman was initially rushed to Aska hospital and then shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The cops are questioning locals and collecting evidence to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the attack.
