Berhampur: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly threw acid on a drug addict youth at Kabisuryanagar town of Odisha’s Ganjam district, leaving him critically injured.
The youth, identified as Budu Das of Dwarsahi, reportedly abused and harassed the woman quite often in intoxicated state.
Sources said Budu hurled abuses at the woman outside her house on Saturday evening. Angry over the frequent harassment, the woman reportedly fetched acid from her home and threw it on the youth’s face. The attack severely damaged his left eye.
Family members rushed Budu to a hospital at Kabisuryanagar. After preliminary treatment, he was referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for specialised care due to the seriousness of his injuries.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, the Kabisuryanagar police launched an investigation into the incident and interrogated the accused woman. Investigation is in progress and further details are awaited.
