Bhubaneswar: With the Rajya Sabha elections approaching, developments within the Congress have drawn attention after the party said it has been unable to contact Mohana MLA Dasarathi Gamang.
Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Rama Chandra Kadam said the legislator has not been responding to phone calls, even as party leaders continue efforts to reach him ahead of the crucial vote.
Despite the lack of communication, the party leadership has expressed confidence that Gamang will vote in favour of the Congress candidate.
Kadam said both the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) leadership and leaders of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) are trying to get in touch with Gamang.
“OPCC president and AICC leaders are keeping a close watch on the situation to see whether he is unable to contact us due to some problem. We are hoping that he will reach on time. No extreme situation has happened yet. Congress will adhere to zero tolerance and take strict action against any hindrance,” Kadam said.
He added that the party believes Gamang will vote for Congress candidate Datteswar Hota in the Rajya Sabha election.
