Newlywed Bride ‘Abducted’ By Former Lover At Gunpoint In Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: A newlywed bride was allegedly abducted at gunpoint by her former lover and his associates, just hours after her wedding in Odisha’s Balangir district early on Sunday.

According to sources, the incident took place when the bride was traveling back to her in-laws’ place at Kamakhi Nagar with the groom and his family members following the wedding in Kantamal area. They were allegedly intercepted midway midway near Badabandha on the Tarbha road by the woman’s ex-boyfriend and his two accomplices. The assailants reportedly brandished a firearm, threatened the groom and others present, and forcibly took the bride away, leaving the family helpless at the scene.

The groom later approached the Tarbha police station and lodged a complaint about the abduction. Police have begun an investigation into the matter and initiated efforts to trace the accused and rescue the woman.
