538 MI tanks promote climate resilience agriculture in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As many as 538 minor irrigation (MI) tanks have been taken up by the Department of Water Resources in convergent mode to promote climate resilient agriculture in Odisha.

It was informed during the 12th Governing Body meeting of the Odisha Community Tank Development and Management Society held at Lokseva Bhawan under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja on Saturday.

During the meeting, it was explained how  crop water budgeting, conjuctive use of water, solar bore wells, custom hiring centres, mechanised dry DSR, green manuring, rice fish culture, scientific fish farming are promoting climate resilience, improving key indicators and changing the lives of water users and farmers in the State.

Development Commissioner-cum-ACS Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of F&ARD Department SK Vashisth, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of PR&DW Department Girish SN, directors of departments including members of the Governing body were present in the meeting.
