3 killed as truck hits 2 bikes in Joda

Keonjhar: Three persons were killed and as many critically injured after a speeding vehicle dashed against two bikes near Joda town flyover in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

As per information, six persons were traveling on two bikes towards Barbil for some work on Monday night when a speeding vehicle rammed into the two-wheelers near the approach road of the Joda flyover. While three persons died on the spot, the other three sustained severe injuries. They rushed to a hospital for treatment.

After getting information, a team of Joda police rushed to the accident site. The critically injured were rescued and admitted to the Tata Steel Hospital in Joda. The bodies were seized and sent for postmortem. A hunt is on to trace the vehicle involved in the crash and apprehend the accused driver.

The incident sparked public outrage and locals blocked the road, demanding adequate compensation to the victims and immediate arrest of the accused driver.

CM orders Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia

Expressing grief over the death of three persons in the mishap, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered ex-gratia of Rs four lakh each to the kin of the deceased and wished speedy recovery of the injured.
