3 Drug Peddlers Nabbed With Brown Sugar Worth Rs 37 Lakh In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a major success against drug racket, the Special Crime Unit (SCU) of the Commissionerate Police arrested three persons and recovered 370 grams of brown sugar from them during a special operation in Bhubaneswar.

Based on intelligence input, the SCU launched a surveillance operation targeting the illicit brown sugar trade in Bhubaneswar. The operation led to a tactical interception near Shyama Shyam Dham Road, close to Doordarshan Kendra under Saheed Nagar police station limit in the city, The suspects had gathered to conduct illegal narcotics transactions in the area when a police team apprehended them.

During the operation, the SCU team seized 370 grams of brown sugar valued at over Rs 37 lakh. A senior police official said that the suspects were apprehended without resistance and are currently being interrogated to extract further details regarding their network and operations.

The police have appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and provide any information about illegal narcotics activities in their areas to help curb the growing menace of drug trafficking in the region.

The three accused have been identified as Sameer Khan alias Muna or Mohan (44) of Jhadeswar; Sk. Irsad Mohammad alias Surya (23) of Rajpur Basti; and Munaf Khan alias Mona (22), also from Rajpur Basti. They all are from Jaleswar area of Balasore district.
