Cuttack: In a tragic incident, two young engineers went missing while bathing in the Kathajodi River in Cuttack on Sunday. As per reports, the incident occurred near Biren Mitra Park in the CDA locality when the individuals were bathing in the river.
As per sources, a few engineers are employed on a construction project at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, contributing to the progress and infrastructure development of the institution. To beat the prevailing heat, four of the engineers had gone to swim in the Kathajodi River.
Unfortunately, two of them went into deep waters and went missing. Upon being informed, a local firefighter team was immediately pressed into service. As per the latest report, body of one youth has been recovered. An effort to locate the other missing engineer still continues, despite challenging conditions.
In another tragic incident, a student from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) had gone missing after he slipped and fell while taking a selfie by the Koel river in Rourkela on Sunday.
As per reports, the victim and his three other friends had come to bathe in the river due to the prevailing severe heat and humid condition. However, the victim slipped into the river near Pradhanpalli area while taking a selfie and subsequently went missing.
Emergency services, including the fire department have reportedly reached the spot and they are tirelessly conducting search and rescue operations in the main bank area of the river. Latest reports suggest that the boy was rescued safely from the river and admitted to the local hospital where his condition remains critical.
Local residents have expressed their dissatisfaction over the incident by complaining that the local administration is not taking any steps to prevent these kinds of incidents which is frequently happening in Koel river.
