Berhampur: In a crackdown on inter-state drug trafficking, the Odisha Excise Department seized 110 kg of ganjam and arrested five persons in Berhampur on Thursday.

According to sources, Excise sleuths intercepted a container truck on National Highway-16 near Sorala and Kanishi Chhak, acting on credible intelligence that contraband was being transported from Kandhamal and Gajapati districts to Tamil Nadu. The truck, bearing a Tamil Nadu registration number, was being escorted by two cars and a motorcycle, all with Odisha number plates.

During thorough inspections, 110 kg of ganja concealed inside the container vehicle were recovered. The truck, the two escort cars, one bike, and four mobile phones from the suspects were also seized.
