Bhubaneswar: In a major law enforcement breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police on Saturday successfully busted an inter-state bike theft gang operating in Bhubaneswar, arresting three accused individuals involved in a series of vehicle theft cases.
During the operation, authorities recovered and seized 15 stolen motorcycles from the possession of the gang members, shedding light on the scale and organisation of their criminal activities.
Police sources revealed that the gang had been actively stealing motorcycles from multiple locations across the city, fleeing immediately after committing the crimes. Their indiscriminate thefts reportedly included motorcycles belonging to ordinary citizens as well as police personnel, with several officers themselves falling victim to the gang’s operations.
Investigations further indicated that the accused routinely tampered with or replaced vehicle registration numbers to conceal the identity of the stolen motorcycles. These vehicles were then allegedly transported to other states and sold as part of an organised inter-state criminal network, suggesting the involvement of a well-planned racket rather than isolated incidents.
The Nayapalli Police, relying on detailed intelligence gathering and meticulous investigative work, managed to track down and apprehend the accused. The police are now interrogating them to uncover whether they were involved in additional thefts and to identify possible connections with larger criminal networks operating across state lines.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and promptly report any suspicious activity to prevent such crimes and ensure community safety.
