CV Raman Global University inks pact with Survey of India for geo-spatial tech

Bhubaneswar: In an attempt to support advancements in geo-spatial technologies, the C.V. Raman Global University (CGU), Odisha and the Survey of India entered into a strategic partnership. Both the institutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in geospatial technology, surveying, high-precision mapping, and technical research.

The agreement was signed between Director of the Survey of India, Odisha & Chhattisgarh Geo-Spatial Directorate, Bhubaneswar Swarnima Bajpai and Pro Vice-Chancellor of CGU Prof. (Dr.) Guda Sridevi.

The collaborative research will help in decision-making for different applications, including urban infrastructure planning, natural resource mapping, environmental management, smart city development, and navigation systems. “ Integration of  modern satellite data with ground-level surveying techniques, we will help in creative advanced mapping models to analyze changing topographies, optimize land resource management, and address critical problems related to earth sciences and regional development,” said an official.

This partnership seeks to leverage the Survey of India’s extensive technical expertise in geospatial science and national mapping operations alongside CGU’s advanced academic infrastructure, research laboratories, and technical capabilities in engineering and geospatial applications. The collaboration is expected to facilitate the exchange of scientific data, academic insights, and technical information, thereby enhancing institutional research capabilities and driving innovation in emerging geospatial sectors.

Under the terms of the agreement, the CGU and the Survey of India will engage in joint research projects, promote institutional knowledge sharing, and organize collaborative training programs, workshops, lectures, and academic outreach activities. These initiatives aim to advance capacity-building, offer specialized professional training, and deepen scientific understanding in the field of geospatial technologies.

Among others, President of CGU Sanjib Kumar Rout, Academic Advisor Prof. Sunil Sarangi, Research Advisor Prof. Ganapati Panda, Director Prof.(Dr) Kartik Chandra Patra,  Registrar Dr. Binita Panda, Head of Department Prof.(Dr.) Prakash Chandra Swain, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Patra and other faculty members were present.

Kinsuk Barana Rout, Priyabrata Ghos, Jayanta Kumar Pradhan, Pratap Ku. Barala & Bijan Kumar Ojha from the Survey of India also attended the MoU signing ceremony.
