Security forces bust maoist camp in Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: Security forces have busted a Maoist camp and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunitions in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

Speaking to media persons on Saturday, Kalahandi SP Abhilash G said they received information about movement of Maoists in Gunduri reserve forest near Manaska village under Sadar police station on Thursday. Security forces led by the SP and CRPF commandant Pankaj Choudhury carried out a combing operation in the forest.

During the operation, they came across a Maoist camp but its members had fled on arrival of the security forces. On searching the camp, they found a huge amount of arms and ammunitions left behind by the Maoists.

They have seized 58 live cartridges, 10 detonators, hand grenades, 500 gram of gun powder, gelatin sticks, electric wires, Maoist uniforms and other materials from the camp.

The security forces also found a Maoist poster calling for taking revenge against police action in Taparang forest where three of their cadres were killed recently. The members of the banned outfit have also threatened the police informers in nearby villages of dire consequences.
