School timing changed for heatwave in Khurda district

Bhubaneswar: In view of the intense heatwave situation in Odisha, Khurda district administration has rescheduled the timing of schools.

Khurda Collector Chanchal Rana, in an official order on Friday, said the Classes I to XII in all government, government aided and privately managed schools will be held from 6.30 am to 10.30 am until further orders. Similarly, all Anganwadi centres in the district will function from 6.30 am to 10.30 am.

The government had earlier announced morning classes for students of Class I to Class XII in all schools for heat wave condition.

Though the School and Mass Education department had directed the schools to conduct the classes from 7 am to 11.30 am from April 2, it had authorised the district administrations to change the school timing on the basis of the weather situation.

It may be noted that Bhubaneswar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 43.5 degree Celsius on the day while 10 places saw mercury touching 42 degree.
