Union Agriculture Minister praises Odisha’s performance

Bhubaneswar: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday reviewed the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana during a nationwide video conference and praised Odisha’s performance.

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo participated in the meeting and highlighted PM-RKVY and Krishonnati schemes’ progress. He also informed that the State has utilised 79 per cent of funds under PM-RKVY and 80 per cent under Krishonnati Yojana. Odisha also sought early release of remaining funds to launch six new projects that will further boost agricultural development.

Expressing satisfaction with Odisha’s performance, Chouhan commended the State for proper investment in the agriculture sector and urged officials to maintain this momentum. 

Sources said PM-RKVY promotes sustainable agriculture practices, while Krishonnati Yojana strengthens food security and self-sufficiency. Odisha advances natural farming, crop diversification, and millet promotion, positioning the state as a model for others.  

Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Shubham Saxena, Director of Agriculture, and Dr Ganeshwar Jena, Additional Secretary, attended the meeting.
