Bhubaneswar: The new building of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka is expected to be inaugurated in December and become fully operational from January, Odisha Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said.
A high-level review meeting on the progress of the new SCB Hospital building was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The meeting reviewed the status of construction, patient shifting, parking and other facilities at the hospital.
According to Harichandan, work on two blocks of the new building has been completed, and the process of shifting patients will begin shortly. Construction of the remaining two blocks is also expected to be completed soon.
The government has set a target to complete the clinical building by December. The new facility is scheduled to be inaugurated in the same month and become fully functional from January.
The Chief Minister also reviewed arrangements for parking and other supporting facilities at the new complex.
The government is also planning to construct a new Medicine department building along with the existing old building. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared for the proposed construction, following which another review meeting will be held soon.
