Puri: In anticipation of massive crowds for Bahuda Yatra of the Trinity of Shree Jagannath Temple and the grand Suna Besha, the Puri police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory and route plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement, seamless crowd management, and public safety in the pilgrim town of Odisha.
With lakhs of devotees expected to throng Bada Danda (Grand Road), the police administration—under real-time surveillance and guidance from top officials—has outlined specific entry routes, designated parking zones, and special transit facilities for commuters arriving from Bhubaneswar, Brahmagiri, and Konark.
Puri police has appealed to all commuters and devotees to strictly follow the traffic guidelines, park only in the designated areas, and cooperate with on-duty personnel for the smooth conduct of the two rituals of the Lords.
As many as 1,645 traffic signages, including 595 permanent and 1,050 temporary signboards, have been installed across the district to guide motorists. Multiple LED display boards have also been placed on highways to provide real-time updates on traffic congestion.
Two mobile LED display units will operate along the Uttara–Lingipur corridor and in Bhubaneswar, displaying live traffic conditions and congestion alerts, particularly for the Malatipatpur route. For the first time, a Bulk SMS alert service has been introduced to provide motorists and pilgrims with real-time traffic updates and congestion alerts, especially on the Malatipatpur and Batgaon routes.
