Bhubaneswar: Beneficiaries in Odisha who have not received their pension under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme for the past five months will get the pending amount by October, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Assembly on Friday.
He said a total of 20,33,959 beneficiaries in the State are covered under the pension scheme. However, pensions to some beneficiaries have remained unpaid for the last five months due to various technical issues. The state government is aware of the problem and is taking steps to resolve it, the Minister said.
According to Gond, the government in coordination with the State Finance Department, Central Government and Treasury authorities, is working to address the technical problems and clear the pending payments.
The process is underway to ensure that all affected beneficiaries receive their arrears along with their regular allowance by October, the Minister said.
