Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has detected 1,741 errors in the new textbooks introduced for students from Class I to Class VIII, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Odisha Assembly on Friday.
The Minister gave the information in response to a question raised by MLA Goutam Buddha Das.
According to the minister, action has been taken against 10 officials in connection with the errors found in the textbooks. The former director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), along with three former deputy directors, has been suspended from service.
Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against six deputy directors in connection with the lapses.
The minister said that corrigendum sheets and books have been provided to teachers to correct the errors in the textbooks.
He further said that the government is continuing the process of preparing and supplying revised textbooks to address the identified mistakes.
15 minor girls found pregnant
As many as 15 minor girls staying in residential hostels in Odisha were reported to have become pregnant during the 2025-26 academic year, an increase from the previous year, according to information provided in the Odisha Assembly. Kandhamal reported the highest number of such cases, with five minor girls, followed by Koraput with four cases during the 2025-26 academic year.
The figures were shared by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond in response to a question raised by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
