Odisha’s first shipbuilding factory to come up at Kendrapada

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain has announced that Kendrapada will soon host the State’s first shipbuilding factory, marking a historic milestone for the region.

The project, established through an agreement between the Odisha government and Paradip Port Authority, is expected to generate significant employment opportunities.

According to the Minister, nearly Rs 24,700 crore will be invested in the shipbuilding cluster, making it one of the largest industrial ventures in the State. Preliminary surveys have already begun in Badatubi, Sanatubi, and Nipania villages to assess land and infrastructure requirements.

“This shipbuilding unit will not only strengthen Odisha’s industrial base but also create thousands of jobs for local youth,” Swain emphasised. The project is envisioned as a flagship initiative to position Odisha as a hub for maritime manufacturing and global trade.
