Odisha Yatri to showcase digital mobility innovations at Urban Mobility India

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Yatri, Odisha’s technology-enabled mobility platform, is set to showcase its expanding mobility ecosystem and citizen-centric digital innovations at the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Expo 2026, scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar under the theme “Urban Accessibility & Liveability in the Digital Age.”

Odisha is the first state in eastern India to host the annual flagship event of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The conference brings together policymakers, urban transport professionals, technology and service providers, practitioners and experts to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions for sustainable urban mobility.

A key highlight of Odisha Yatri’s participation will be its Safety Module, which integrates mobility and citizen safety services on a single state-owned digital platform. The initiative has been developed with integration with the Odisha Police and the national emergency response system, 112.

Available on both iOS and Android, the Safety Module offers 11 integrated safety features, including Shake to Alert, alarm, location sharing and emergency contact facilities. Its One-Tap SOS facility connects users directly to the national emergency helpline 112. The module has so far been rolled out to around 1.86 lakh users.

The mobility platform has also recorded significant growth, completing 10 lakh trips with 6.34 lakh registered users and 18,600 enabled drivers across five cities.

According to the platform, Odisha Yatri has generated Rs 15.5 crore in earnings for drivers through its 100% pass-through model, under which no commission is retained from drivers.

The platform recorded its highest monthly performance in January 2026, when it facilitated 60,000 trips from 3.28 lakh ride searches, reflecting growing adoption of technology-enabled mobility services.

Odisha Yatri is also expanding beyond conventional ride-hailing to build a broader mobility ecosystem. It currently facilitates Ama Bus services across four cities and boating services at Satapada in partnership with the Dolphin Boat Association.

The integration of mobility and safety services is aimed at making technology-driven public services more accessible and responsive. Through emergency alerts, location sharing and SOS assistance, Odisha Yatri is positioning itself as a digital platform supporting citizens not only in their daily travel but also during emergencies.

The hosting of UMI 2026 will provide Odisha an opportunity to showcase its emerging mobility solutions before national and international stakeholders. Odisha Yatri’s participation will highlight how digital technology and citizen-centric innovation can contribute to safer, more accessible, inclusive and liveable urban spaces.

The platform’s evolution is part of Odisha’s broader vision of leveraging technology to improve everyday services and strengthen citizen-centric governance. From facilitating seamless mobility to integrating emergency safety services, Odisha Yatri represents an expanding digital ecosystem designed around citizens’ needs.

The initiative also aligns with the broader aspirations of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat, with technology and innovation serving as key enablers of inclusive, sustainable and people-centric urban development.
