Bhubaneswar: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, has clarified that no decision has been taken to postpone or cancel any examination in view of the Odisha bandh called by the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) on September 30.
The Board has made it clear that examinations will be conducted as scheduled and no change in the examination timetable has been announced in connection with the bandh, said BSE President Srikanta Tarai on Tuesday.
The clarification comes amid reports circulating on social media claiming that examinations have been cancelled due to the bandh. The Board has termed such reports completely baseless and said no examination has been cancelled so far.
The Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan has called for the Odisha bandh on September 30, demanding action over alleged errors in school textbooks and seeking the resignation of the School and Mass Education Minister.
The bandh call was announced by the organisation’s national coordinator Akshay Kumar, who urged people across the state to extend their support to the agitation.
The farmers’ organisation has raised concerns over alleged errors in textbooks for Classes I to VIII and held the School and Mass Education Department and the minister responsible for the issue.
The textbook controversy had erupted earlier this year after more than 1,600 errors were reportedly detected in newly published school textbooks. The issue drew criticism from Opposition parties, educationists and other stakeholders, who raised concerns over the quality of educational materials supplied to students across the state.
