Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to support the working class, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Friday made a major announcement on the occasion of Labour Day. The State government has decided to increase the daily wages for workers across various skill levels, marking a crucial step toward improving their economic conditions.
Starting on April 1, workers’ wages will see a substantial rise. Unskilled workers will now receive Rs 472 as their daily wage, up from the previous rate. Likewise, semi-skilled workers will get Rs 522 per day, while skilled workers will see their wages increase to Rs 572. The highest increase has been announced for highly skilled workers, whose daily wage will be Rs 622.
This wage hike is expected to benefit thousands of workers across the state and is a part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the livelihood of the working class in Odisha. The revised wages will be applicable from April 1st, and the announcement has been met with widespread appreciation from labor unions and workers’ representatives alike.
The government’s move comes at a time when labor rights and fair compensation are critical topics of discussion, and this increase reflects the administration’s commitment to addressing these concerns.
