NIA files chargesheet in Bhubaneswar bomb blast case

Bhubaneswar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a chargesheet against two accused persons in a case pertaining to the bomb blast in Sundarpada area of Odisha capital on January 27 this year.

The chargesheet was filed in a Special NIA Court in the capital city here under various Sections of the BNS, ES Act and Explosive Act. The accused duo has been identified as Rohan Ranjan Rout alias Sonu and Amiya Ranjan Mallik.

The incident occurred at around 2.45 pm on January 27 at New Azad Nagar in Sundarpada area under Airfield police limits in the capital city.

The blast took place while four persons were preparing bomb on the roof of a building with an intention to commit a crime. They sustained critical injuries in the explosion.

Two of them later succumbed to their injuries while being treated at a hospital. The NIA took over the investigation and re-registered the case on April 4.

The NIA investigation found that the two accused persons were actively involved in the criminal conspiracy and commission of the offence. Further investigation into the matter is underway, said an official.
