Bhubaneswar: In a major push to attract global investments, the Odisha government will host an Investors’ Roadshow in the national capital this August, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain informed on Saturday.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead the high-level ‘Team Odisha’ delegation to pitch the State’s investment potential to top industrial houses and global investors. “The primary objective of the New Delhi roadshow is to drive higher investment into food processing, leveraging Odisha’s rich agricultural resources and strategic logistics. The Chief Minister will engage in direct, one-on-one discussions with prominent industrialists during this event,” he said.
Swain emphasised that Odisha has secured significant capital investments over the last two years, with several industrial projects already commencing operations. “We have successfully attracted investments across multiple avenues, including textiles, renewable energy, chemicals, petrochemicals, and various new-age industries. Record numbers of ground-breaking and inauguration ceremonies for new projects have been conducted in the last two years,” he stated.
Furthermore, the Minister pointed out that a Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) report placed Odisha second nationwide in securing investment intents. Beyond industrial setups, Swain emphasised that the government is focusing on equipping the state’s youth with industry-ready skills that match modern market demands to ensure locals benefit from this industrial boom.
“We aren’t just focusing on bringing industries; equal priority is being given to skill development. Odisha recently emerged as the national champion in the India Skills competition, with around a hundred of our students winning medals. Our youth are now preparing themselves for the World Skills competition,” the Minister shared, adding that the Economic Survey has also recognised Odisha’s best practices in this domain. “Our ultimate goal is to empower our youth with top-tier skills, making them fully employment-ready and self-reliant.”
The upcoming roadshow is expected to further solidify Odisha’s position as a premier investment destination in India, driving both economic growth and employment opportunities, he added.
