Kataka: Cricket lovers in the city will be able to witness some exciting matches and actions of promising young cricketers as the second edition of the Odisha T20 League will kick start from September 20 till September 29 at the historic Barabati Stadium.
Organised by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), the tournament will provide a platform for some of the State’s promising young cricketers to showcase their talent and gain valuable match experience.
A major highlight of the second season will be the introduction of the prestigious ‘CM Trophy’. The official tournament logo and trophy were unveiled on Saturday.
Six franchise-based teams will compete in the league — Bubaneswar Tigers, Cuttack Panthers, Puri Titans, Sambalpur Warriors, Keonjhar Miners and Rourkela Steelers.
The player draft is scheduled to be held on September 6, when young cricketers from across Odisha will be picked by the six participating teams.
OCA President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty said the league would serve as an important platform for emerging players to gain competitive experience and progress in their cricketing careers.
“This league is an invaluable platform for our state’s talented young cricketers to gain match experience and advance in their cricketing journeys. Building on the success of the inaugural edition, Season 2 brings fresh concepts and greater excitement for all sports lovers,” he said.
Cricket fans will be able to watch all the matches live on JioHotstar, while regional television channels will also broadcast the games with commentary in regional languages.
