Odisha launches Operation Anweshan to trace, rescue missing children

Kataka: Odisha Police has launched a massive “Operation Anweshan” to trace and rescue missing and trafficked Odia children from other States. The operation will continue till September 8, 2026.

As many as 17 teams from Odisha will visit 17 states within the country which have been identified as destination states where Odia children are generally found. For purpose, 2 nos. of teams have been formed under each Range. Each team consists of 5 nos. of Police personnel and Legal cum Probation officer of W&CD Department.

Apart from tracing and rescuing missing children, the team members will also take steps to re-integrate Odia children institutionalized in Child Care Institutes of other states, with their families. The Range IGP/ DIGP and Additional Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar- Kataka will co-ordinate the teams’ activities in the respective destination states assigned to their teams under the overall guidance of Addl DG of Police, CAW & CW, Odisha, Bhubaneswar.

Odisha Police is committed to the cause of child protection and will make the best endeavors to trace missing children from other states during the period of this drive.
