
Woman on board special train delivers baby girl at Titilagarh station
Bhubaneswar: A pregnant woman, who had boarded the Shramik special train from Kazipet in Telangana to Balangir in Odisha, delivered a baby girl at Titilagarh railway station on Sunday.
The woman, Hema Kanti, had boarded the special train at Kazipet. However, the woman complained of labour pain near Titilagarh railway station. The train was halted at the station and the officials were immediately alerted.
Later, Hema delivered a baby girl at around 10.15 am in the presence of Railway Divisional Medical Officer. After the delivery, both mother and the newborn de-boarded the train at 10.55 am.
Meanwhile, another migrant woman on board another ‘Shramik Special’ train went into labour and with the help of police personnel delivered a baby in their vehicle on Sunday afternoon. This was informed by DGP Abhay in a tweet.
As soon as the pregnant woman went into labour in the special train, co-passengers alerted railway officials. Subsequently, Jharsuguda police was intimated.
When the special train halted at Jharsuguda station, police took the pregnant woman in their vehicle to Jharsuguda DHH. However, she delivered a baby in the police vehicle with the help of Jharsuguda IIC Savitri Bal on way to hospital.
Hospital sources said the condition of the woman and the baby is stable.
