State soaks in Vijaya Dashami celebrations; traffic advisory issued for Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Vijaya Dashami, a celebration of victory of good over evil, is being observed across the State on Tuesday. Devotees are making a beeline for Durga mandaps and temples to seek blessings of the Goddess.
As per tradition, ‘aparajita’ puja, Dashami puja and Somanath rituals of Goddess of Durga followed by Purnahuti will be performed. The 10-day Dusshera festival at the puja mandaps will culminate on Tuesday.
Pandals have made arrangements for ‘Ravana Podi’ on Tuesday evening, during which effigy of demon king Ravana will be torched to mark the victory of Rama on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami.
In Bhubaneswar, puja pandals in Saheed Nagar, Rasulgarh, Jharapara, Station Bazaar, Nayapalli saw a noticeable increase in footfalls.
Similarly in Cuttack, the gold and silver embellishments at puja mandaps at Chowdhury Bazaar, Khannagar, College Square, Chauliaganj, Ranihat, Balu Bazaar, Sheikh Bazaar and Mangalabag drew huge number of devotees.
Meanwhile, Twin City Commissionerate Police has issued traffic advisory for Bhubaneswar in view of Ravana Podi at multiple locations on Tuesday.
The following traffic restrictions will be imposed in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday from 4 pm to 1 am:
* All vehicles coming from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar shall be diverted from Jayadev Vihar to CRP Square via Behera Sahi Chhak, Power House Chhak, Unit-8 DAV School Chhak towards Stewarts School Chhak.
* All vehicles coming from Khurda to Bhubaneswar shall be diverted from Kolathia Chhak towards Chandaka via Jayadev Vatika, Naka Gate, Kalinga Studio Chhak and Bharatpur Chhak.
People going to Railway Station and Airport have been advised to plan their journey accordingly keeping in view the diversions and heavy traffic during Ravana Podi.
A fine of Rs 500-Rs 100 will be imposed against the violators, police sources said.
