Phulbani Medical College to be completed in 30 months
Bhubaneswar: Phulbani Medical College, with 100 seats and 500 beds, is expected to be completed within 30 months. Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, who along with 5T Secretary V K Pandian, visited Phulbani on Friday, directed the district administration to provide all support, especially the availability of construction material, for timely completion of the project.
The direction was issued after the Chief Secretary and the 5T Secretary reviewed the progress of the construction of the medical college and the hospital. Mohapatra suggested that the plantation be taken up in the adjacent hills and asked the Water Resources department to plan for the drainage systems and water conservation structures.
The State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, had approved the proposal in December 2020 to set up a medical college in Phulbani at an investment of Rs 450 crore. The campus will have facilities for 300-seated boys’ hostel, 150-seated girls’ hostel, 650-capacity auditorium, 100-seated Resident Doctors’ Hostel and quarters for doctors and staff.
