Odisha to develop tourism, hospitality infrastructure
Bhubaneswar: State Tourism Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi on Tuesday said the Government would develop tourism and hospitality infrastructure coupled with training and skill development of local community members.
Speaking at a workshop on “Contemporary Tourism Scenario – Strategies for Revival into the World of (New) Next to Normal for the State of Odisha” at Eco Retreat, Konark, Panigrahi said, “it is imperative for all of us to collectively reaffirm our commitment to preserve, power and promote all aspects of tourism and hospitality and make it socially and economically sustainable.”
He said tourism has become a priority sector for Odisha Government with the enhanced allocation of funds in the budget this year for the development of destinations like Chandrabagha beach, Talasari beach, Ekamra Kshetra, Puri Srikhetra, Harishankar-Nrusinghnath, Maa Samaleswari and master planning of Hirakud, Satkosia, Bhitarkanika, Koraput and other important locations in the State.
The workshop was organised in association with the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Bhubaneswar to share the plans and strategies to revive and strengthen the sector over the next three years.
Tourism Secretary Vishal Dev urged the tourist officers to become the brand ambassadors of the districts they represent. He said tourist officers have a crucial role to play in the implementation of the revival strategies. They need to act as facilitators in attracting private sector investments and work towards improving the ease of doing business in the State.
