Odisha reports 778 new COVID-19 cases, 17 fresh fatalities
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s COVID-19 tally rose to 3,13,323 on Saturday as 778 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said. Seventeen fresh fatalities pushed the coastal State’s coronavirus death toll to 1,625.
As many as 446 new cases were reported in quarantine centres, while 332 fresh infections were detected during contact tracing. Angul district reported the highest number of new cases at 68, followed by Sundargarh (64) and Khurda and Balasore (61 each).
Five fresh fatalities were reported in Sundargarh, three in Keonjhar, two each in Cuttack and Ganjam and one each in Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Mayurbhanj and Puri districts. Khurda district has so far reported the highest number of coronavirus fatalities at 273, followed by Ganjam (238), Cuttack (131) and Sundargarh (119).
Fifty-three coronavirus patients have died due to comorbidities. The State now has 7,748 active coronavirus cases, while 3,03,897 people have recovered from the infection so far.
Odisha has so far tested over 55.18 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 47,464 on Friday. The State’s positivity rate stands at 5.68 per cent.
