Odisha reports 43 Covid deaths; BMC starts door-to-door jabs for bedridden
Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 6,019 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday and 43 more deaths, a Health department official said. The State has so far reported 8,31,129 cases and 3,123 fatalities. Of the new infections, 3,397 were reported from quarantine centres and the remaining 2,622 were local contact cases. There are 71,312 active cases in the State at present.
In the last 24 hours, 8,836 patients have recovered, taking the total recoveries to 7,56,641. Khurda district, where State capital Bhubaneswar is located, reported the highest 796 new cases, followed by Cuttack (531) and Jajpur (406). Of the latest fatalities, Khurda accounted for five deaths. Angul, Cuttack, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh reported four deaths each. The State tested 68,778 samples on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation started a door-to-door vaccination drive for bedridden persons. So far, 51 such persons have registered to avail the service.
Similarly, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation started a special vaccination drive for students going abroad for higher studies.
