Odisha reports 1,018 new COVID-19 cases, 12 more fatalities
Bhubaneswar: At least 1,018 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha, raising the tally to 3,07,004 on Friday, while 12 fresh fatalities pushed the toll to 1,495, a Health department official said. Of the 1,018 new cases, 585 were reported from various quarantine centres and the rest detected during contact tracing.
All 30 districts in the coastal State have recorded less than 100 cases. Sundargarh recorded the maximum number of new cases 94, followed by Mayurbhanj at 86 and Khurda at 83. Three deaths were reported from Sundargarh, two each from Khurda and Dhenkanal districts. One each succumbed to the infection in Angul, Kandhamal, Koraput, Puri and Sambalpur.
Odisha currently has 11,715 active cases, while as many as 2,93,741 patients have so far recovered. The State’s positivity rate now stands at 5.94 per cent. Fifty-three COVID-19 patients have died due to comordibities. Over 51.71 lakh tests have been conducted in the State, including 48,246 on Thursday.
