Odisha records 288 new Covid cases
Bhubaneswar: As many as 288 Covid positive cases were reported in the past 24 hours in Odisha on Wednesday taking the tally to 10,47,674 and registering a test positivity rate of 0.5 per cent.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 288 new infections, 166 were recorded from quarantine centres and 122 as local contact cases.
Khurda district registered the highest number of 130 cases followed by Cuttack (21), Sambalpur (17), Puri (15), Mayurbhanj (12) and Sundargarh (11). At least six districts reported no new Covid cases in the past 24 hours while 10 districts recorded single digit Covid positive cases.
During the period, three Covid deaths — two from Khurda district and one in Jagatsinghpur district — were reported taking the total fatalities in the State to 8,399. The active cases in the State further dropped to 2,221 of which Khurda district alone accounted for a maximum number of 1,028 cases followed by Cuttack (155). These two districts together accounted for 53.26 per cent of the total Covid cases in the State.
As far as the test positivity rate of the districts are concerned, Khurda district has the highest test positivity rate of 1.8 per cent. While eight districts have shown zero per cent test positivity rate, 21 districts have recorded the test positivity rate below 1 per cent.
