Noted Odia film composer, director Jalal Adeni passes away
Bhubaneswar: Renowned Odia film director, producer and composer Jalal Adeni passed away at his residence at Buxi Bazar in Cuttack on Monday following a cardiac arrest. He was 85.
Born on June 23, 1936 at Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district, Jalal did his engineering from Jadavpur Engineering College in West Bengal after completing his schooling and Intermediate from Berhampur.
Jalal had a passion for acting and music from his childhood. He left his job in Railways and made directing, acting and producing his profession. He produced and directed an Odia movie — Hira Moti Manika — in 1981. He is also known for his works in films like Pujarini and Basanti Apa.
Adeni rose to fame in Odia cinema with the film Anutap (1977) as the director, music director as well as playback singer. The song ‘Nida Bhara Rati Madhu Bhara Janha’, one of the compositions in the film, was all-time hit.
Adeni also directed a few Bollywood movies including Jamana Kya Karega (1982), Hamne Pyar Kiya (1992) and Prem Upahar (1994).
