Migrant labourer’s fingers, toes chopped off by agents in Nagpur
Nuapada: In a barbaric incident, two agents allegedly chopped off three fingers and five toes of a migrant labourer from Nuapada district in Nagpur recently. The incident came to light after the family members of the labourer filed a complaint at Komna police station.
Chamaru Paharia of Tikirapada village had gone to Nagpur along with two middlemen Dala Satnami and Bidesi Sunani this year. The middlemen had engaged Paharia to work in a building construction site.
Satnami and Sunani allegedly offered liquor to Paharia and chopped off three fingers of his right hand and five toes of his right leg when he asked for wages. Later, they dumped him at Nagpur railway station.
A team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued Paharia in a critical condition and admitted him at a nearby hospital. Later, Paharia was discharged from the hospital and sent back to his village.
“Satnami and Sunani had taken me to work in Nagpur some months ago. However, when I asked them for money, they attacked me and chopped off my fingers and toes,” alleged Paharia.
Komna police started an investigation into the matter.
