Lingaraj temple to reopen for devotees from Sept 1
Bhubaneswar: Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar will reopen for devotees from September 1. This was decided at a meeting of Lingaraj Temple Trust Board on Wednesday.
In April, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) had restricted public entry into the 11th century shrine after four servitors tested positive for Covid-19. The Government had also banned entry of Bol Bam devotees to the shrine.
Sources said the devotees can now visit the temple strictly adhering to Covid-19 norms. Devotees will not be allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. As per the decision, visitors, who have received double dose of Covid vaccine, will be permitted to visit the shrine on showing the certificate. Official sources said they will pay obeisance to the Lord near the ‘Aadapa Kaatha’.
