ITI student returning from Fani relief work falls off train, dies
Rourkela: In a tragic incident, a student of Rourkela Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) died after he fell off a running train on Wednesday night while returning from Bhubaneswar. The deceased has been identified as Bhaskar Sahu.
Sahu, along with 36 other students of the ITI, were engaged in restoration work for power supply in Bhubaneswar. After completion of the restoration work, the student was heading back to Rourkela when he accidentally slipped off the Intercity Express between Rajgangpur and Kansabahal stations and died.
Demanding ex gratia of Rs 25 lakh for Sahu’s kin, students of Rourkela Government ITI staged a dharna outside the college. They have also demanded government job to a family member of Sahu.
College Principal-Incharge Rabindra Kumar Mallick said the ITI was closed for the day in memory of Bhaskar Sahu. He also said a compensation cheque of Rs 5 lakh has been given to the family members of the deceased in the initial phase.
