Heavy rain with thunderstorm activity may continue in Odisha for 4 more days

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday warned of heavy rain in Odisha for four days during this week. According to the midday bulletin, heavy rainfall is likely in the state on August 11 and August 13-15.

August 11: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) may occur at one or two places in Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

August 13: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapada.

August 14: Heavy rainfall may continue at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Sundargarh.

August 15: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) may occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Sundargarh, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts.

The prolonged of spell of rain induced by low pressure and cyclonic circulation has helped the state to tide over the deficit. Odisha has received 630.5mm against its normal value of 686.8mm between June 1 and August 11. Five districts have recorded excess rain, while 16 are in the normal and 9 in deficit categories.
