Hyder death: Ban orders in Kendrapara for a week
Kendrapara: Apprehending law and order problem following the death of notorious gangster Sheikh Hyder in police encounter, the district administration has promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in the entire town for a week.
Hyder, who was undergoing life imprisonment in a murder case, was killed in police encounter near Simulia in Balasore district on Saturday while trying to flee from police custody. The gangster was being shifted from Choudwar jail to Baripada jail. Kendrapara Collector Amrit Ruturaj promulgated Section 144 in the whole township along with the adjoining gram panchayats of Kapaleswar, Gulnagar, Barimula and Jamdhar from July 24 to July 30.
The body of Hyder was handed over to his relatives on Sunday at Balasore district hospital after post-mortem.
The Kendrapara district administration prohibited congregation of more than five persons for any purpose. Police have made elaborate arrangements to maintain law and order. Police forces have been deployed in all the sensitive pockets whereas mobile patrolling has been intensified in Kendrapara township. As many as eight DSPs, 10 inspectors and eight platoons of police forces have been deployed at all sensitive places, including near the house of Hyder at Ranapada village in the township.
The movement of vehicular traffic has been restricted in the township area. All roads in the town wore a deserted look as the denizens preferred to stay indoors.
