Durga Puja festivities draw to a close with Ravan Podi
Bhubaneswar: Durga Puja festivities came to an end with the burning of gigantic effigies of demon king Ravan on Vijaya Dashami on Tuesday. The event, which marks the victory of good over evil, was celebrated with much pomp and grandeur across the State.
Massive security arrangements were put in place at several venues in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar where effigies of Ravan and his brothers were burnt. The Ravan Podi event was organised at four places in Bhubaneswar- Jharpada, Baramunda, Nayapalli and Naharkanta.
Despite showers in the afternoon, thousands of devotees thronged various puja pandals in different parts of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
The Commissionerate Police had clamped traffic restrictions from 4 pm to 1 am in view of the Ravana Podi festival.
Cultural programmes were organised at Baliyatra ground prior to the Ravan Podi event in Cuttack.
Ravan Podi events were also organised in different parts of the State while in some areas, the event will extend till late night.
