BJP approaches Governor in Pari murder case
Bhunbaneswar: The BJP on Tuesday demanded the Odisha Governor to intervene on the issues of alleged abduction and murder of Pari, a five-year-old girl of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district, and the adjournment of the Assembly one month before schedule.
In a memorandum to Governor Ganeshi Lal, a delegation of the BJP, led by Leader of the Opposition Pradipta Kumar Naik, demanded the resignation of Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo for his alleged involvement in the Pari case and a CBI probe into it to find out the truth.
Naik said initially the police did not give any importance to the case even though Pari’s parents moved from pillar to post. But after the couple attempted to immolate themselves in front of the Assembly and the issue was raised in the House, the Government first ordered a Crime Branch inquiry and then an SIT probe into the incident.
