BJD activists protest Lekhasri remark on Puri
Puri: Hundreds of Biju Janata Dal activists on Wednesday went in a procession shouting slogans against BJP State spokesperson Lekhasri Samantsimhar for her comments on Puri, the abode of Lord Jagannath.
The activists, led by city BJD president Sabyasachi Mahapatra and former civic body chairperson Santilata Pradhan, also burnt the effigy of Lekhasri and lodged a complaint against her at the Town police station.
Speaking to mediapersons, Sabyasachi said since time immemorial, people of the country know Puri as land of Jagdish even before Odisha State came into existence. It is one of the four ‘dhams’ of Hindu faith and a large number of devotees from across the country and abroad participate in the Rath Yatra of the Trinity, he said.
